FAQ

Our training programs are customized to your family’s specific needs and schedule.  Our goal is to set you and your dog up for success and long-lasting results.  Working in your natural environment means we have better control of distractions so you and your dog can concentrate on the task at hand.  Further, since each lesson builds on previous work, in-home training allows the opportunity to work at your family’s pace and provide more personalized instruction for mastering commands, which means no wasted time.

You have made a lifelong commitment to your dog and Trusted Companion Dog Training pledges to make that same commitment to you.   All our In-Home Dog Training and Board and Train programs include a lifetime commitment of training and education.  We will support you in addressing any unforeseen issues for as long as you continue to follow the training plan and work with your pet.

Since each dog, owner, and situation is different, there is no one size fits all approach to dog training.  We will develop a personalized training plan designed to set both you and your dog up for successOur philosophy, designed around behavior choices, is based on the most current science of dog training and behavior At the same time, coaching the dog’s family is just as important as training the dog.  To that end, we teach the dog (or teach you to teach your dog) the skills and behaviors required to make good behavior choices.

Throughout our training, we will always utilize the most appropriate training tools for the job.  It may be possible for your pet to successfully learn the skills with a flat collar, but in some cases, it may be necessary to utilize additional tools in order to fix certain unwanted behaviors (e.g. pulling, lunging, barking, nipping, counter surfing, etc.).

We have been certified by Canine Trade Group and trainer Travis Yantes is also certified through the American Kennel Club as a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.   While no official dog training license or certification currently exists, there is no doubt that education is important.  As such, our trainers remain current with the latest skills and techniques to ensure our clients’ needs are met

Yes, we specialize in aggression management and have a particular passion for rehabilitating these dogs.  Every dog deserves a chance and without our intervention, some of our clients’ dogs may otherwise have been surrendered to a shelter, returned to the rescue, or worse, possibly even euthanized.  It is our goal to help each of our clients have the best relationship possible with their pet.

Since every situation is different, the answer varies, but we will always be honest with our recommended timeframe in the initial consultation.

If you are consistent and follow your trainer’s instructions, we guarantee you will see a change in behavior.  However, we understand that behavior is not static.  We believe so strongly in our approach that we offer a lifetime commitment of training and education.  We will support you in addressing any unforeseen issues for as long as you continue to follow the training plan and work with your pet.
